Straight answers about our metrology and inspection work

L Wright Precision is the metrology side of L WRIGHT ENGINEERING LTD. We measure, inspect and verify machined and moulded parts for workshops, toolrooms and production engineers who need a number they can trust. Everything we report is traceable back to national standards through our calibrated equipment.

The work we take on is mostly dimensional inspection, first article inspection reports and reverse engineering. That covers everything from a batch of turned components that needs checking against a drawing to a one-off part with no drawing at all, where we build the geometry from the part itself and hand back a usable CAD model.

We are a small team and we work directly with the people making the parts. You will speak to the person doing the measuring, not a call handler. If something on your drawing is ambiguous, we will ring you rather than guess, and if we cannot measure a feature to the tolerance you need, we will say so before you commit.

Most jobs arrive as a few parts on a courier, some with a paper drawing and some with nothing but a photo and a description. We are used to both. Turnaround is usually a few working days for straightforward inspection, and we will give you a realistic date when you send the details through.

The equipment we hold includes a CMM, a profile projector, hardness testing and a full set of calibrated hand instruments. Where a job sits outside what we can do properly, we will point you towards someone who can rather than take it on and hope.
